My father had a joke with three owls he like to tell. I share it with my friends cause it always made me laugh. What does the white owl say? Hoo hoo What does the black owl say? Whoodat What does the gay owl say? Youwhoo No matter how many times I've heard him say it I laugh every time. Was a lilltle down today & guess my dad knew I needed to laugh cause I was sitting at a red light & I look up & saw this it made me laugh & cry I little. Thank you dad miss u so much but know you are still around with the little signs. Love you daddy ❤️
Bob was the first boy with whom I was allowed out of the house. We drove Don's and Gini's white Buick convertible and went to the Cherry Festival Playhouse in Traverse City.
We were buddies from the time I was 8 years old as he was with Don and Gini most summers and lived with them in San Pedro. I remember making him sandwiches with double Mayo as the military wouldn't take him until he gained weight.
When skinny pants came in style he asked me to "peg" them for him. (His were really Skinny!)
He spent hours trying to teach me to dance so we could go to a TV show taping in Pasadena. He made sure we were in front of the camera a lot! He was a fabulous dancer.
Bob was a big part of my teens, it was a great time.

RIP, love Susan (Clarke Galyean)

"Bob and Lilah - I miss this man very much"
This posted on part of Mark Wilson - Bob's nephew:

My Uncle Bob:

When we were younger Uncle Bob was more like a big brother than an uncle. He came to live with us in Indiana and later in California. My first big recollection of Bobby was one of the first summers at the Cottage in Michigan. Dad had just arrived with our first speed boat at the lake. All the adults had taken the boat for a spin and finally Bobby got his chance. He took the boat out and hot rodded around for a while. When he brought it in, at full speed straight for the shore, the beach erupted with cries of stop, stop, stop!!!! No avail, Bobby drove the boat right up on shore, not realizing that boats don’t have breaks. As the boat landed Bobby, realizing he was in trouble plenty, leaped on shore and all in stride started running up the driveway with my Dad, his big brother, running and cussing after him. I guess he got away as I don’t remember any immediate repercussions. The boat, damaged, was later replaced that summer as defective. Lucky break for Bobby and all the rest of us cause we went on to use that boat for many years to come. I believe he was 15. He later became the default main and best driver of the boat. Years later when I would bring it up, He either didn’t remember it or he remembered it much different than I.

A couple of years later my Dad got a new job and we moved to California. No one we knew had ever been to California. After not long a time Bob and a couple of his friends followed us to California. Uncle Bob traveled back and forth from Michigan and California many times. One time he did it on the back of a Vespa motor scooter. Everybody said he wouldn’t make it. He did, it took 11 days if I remember correctly. What a great experience. I wish I could remember the stories of that trip. I do remember that they were scary and exciting.

When he got older he liked being called Uncle Bob and would give you a dollar if you said he was your favorite uncle. Everybody began to call him their favorite Uncle Bob and got a buck. When inflation hit and the payoff went to five bucks he stopped paying me, for I was always calling him my favorite uncle.

He was my favorite Uncle Bob!

Love,
Mark
