Robert Louis's obituary
Robert Louis Tressler, Jr., of Warrenton, VA, met his Savior face-to-face on November 17, 2025, at the age of 85. Bob (or “Mr. Bob”, “Bob the Tomato”, “Butter Bob”, “Boba”) was a loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather to his family, and a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Bob was born in Lewistown, PA on June 25,1940 to Robert Sr. and Hazel (Shiffer) Tressler. He graduated from Shippensburg State College in 1962 where he met his lovely wife, Caryl. After getting married in 1963 and living in Lancaster, PA, for 3 years, they moved to Herndon, VA where they raised their three children.
Outside of his thirty-year career as a math and photography teacher at Herndon Intermediate School, Bob enjoyed hobbies like photography (developing his own film in a dark room he built), golf (making custom clubs for himself and others), model trains (creating several elaborate town scenes to the delight of his grandchildren), and collecting any number of (very random) things, such as: Beanie Babies, hats, TV remotes and pockets full of rubber bands, pens, Sharpies and coins.
One of Bob’s many quirks was that he rarely called things by their actual name. He referred to things as “whatcha-ma-call-its,” “thing-a-ma-bobs,” and “whosee-a-whatsits.” If you asked him what he was eating, or what he’d like for dinner, he might say “mushroom sauce and bubblegum soup.” Among Caryl’s favorites was when he referred to West Ox Road as Rattlesnake Road.
Most days in his later years, he was found reading and talking with anyone and everyone at his local Starbucks. Of all the conversations he had there, his greatest dialogues were the secret conversations he shared with the Lord in his journal.
Bob is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Caryl (Frick) Tressler; his children Karen (Tressler) Ballinger of Louisville, KY, Brian Louis Tressler (Kristine Diane Tressler) of Outer Banks, NC, and Kelley (Tressler) Wiggins (Glenn Darrell Wiggins) of Olathe, KS; his grandchildren: Bailey, Jessica, and Nicola Tressler, and Kaylee and Jaxon Wiggins; and his brother Gary Keith Tressler (Ginny Mumford Tressler).
