Bob's obituary
Bob (Robert Joseph Jean Paul) Lalonde of Prince George, British Columbia, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023 in Calgary, Alberta, after a brief and sudden battle with cancer. Bob was born March 3, 1954 in Quebec to Laurette Vaillancourt and Robert Lalonde, and had six siblings.
Bob had an adventurous spirit, and as a young man he set out west with the intention of making his way to Australia. He made it as far as British Columbia before settling in Vancouver, taking on a wide range of jobs in the hospitality industry. In 1982, he met his great love and lifelong partner, Micki (Michelle) Crawford. Bob and Micki settled in Prince George in 1989 with their two sons, Justin and Kevin.
Bob had an enduring interest in technology, and in the late ‘90s he took a short break from hospitality to open his own business, Bob’s Computer Services, and continued to be “the computer guy” for dozens of friends and family members his entire life. As Food and Beverage Director at the Prince George Civic Centre, he brought his passion for service to his community, facilitating over two decades of memorable weddings, fundraisers, conferences, and galas.
Our dad was a kind, generous, and loving person who had the incredible gift of making every person in his orbit feel that they were a special, treasured guest. He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Justin (Corey) and Kevin (Diana) Lalonde, his grandchildren Charlotte and Georgia, his entire family of siblings, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews in Quebec, and his beloved wife, Micki.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at First Baptist Church on August 19 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to BC Cancer Foundation.
