Bob had a great laugh & I will miss hearing that again. As professional as he was at work, he mixed his job with humour.
Coffee was always forefront in our discussions with him during my years planning the Festival of Trees event. Coffee prices kept going up for our events and then rose astronomically when they got Starbucks. He would sit there and agree with me while holding his piddly ass small Civic Centre coffee cup, which seemed to be part of his hand. It was so stained from spilling coffee as he walked and talked with his hands. I’d always say, “Bob…you need a bigger cup! To which he’d always laugh! Once I got him a big oversized “to go cup” from a truck stop in the States as a joke. Another time I filled an empty IV bag with coffee so he didn’t have to leave his desk.
He taught everyone that knew him the value of doing the job right to achieve the best possible results. I learned so much from him and think of him every time I set my table…perfectly the way Bob showed me. And take pride in the compliments I receive!
Bob & I started out working together close to 25 years ago and I will always cherish the friendship we developed over those years.
