Robert's obituary
Robert "Bob/Bobby" Lee Bancroft, 74, was born to Hattie Lou and Louis Henry Bancroft on February 7, 1947, in Pensacola, Florida.
Bobby fell asleep in death on October 22, 2021, at home in Marble Falls, Texas, surrounded by his 4 daughters and wife, Linda.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hattie Lou and Louis Henry Bancroft; his two brothers, William Bancroft and Joseph Bancroft; and his son, Benjamin Robert Bancroft.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Ann Burkart Bancroft; his 4 daughters, Tammy (Jeff) Wheeler, Jennifer Marino, Mandy (Benjamin) Buie, and Kristen (Evan) Wolfe; 4 grandchildren, Christie (Alphonse) Fugere, Spencer Marino, Caitlyn Buie, and Claire Buie; 1 great-granddaughter Rowan Fugere; and 2 sisters-in-law, Isabel Bancroft and Myrna Bancroft.
Bobby spent his childhood in Pensacola, Florida until Jr. High when he and his family made a temporary move to New Orleans for his father's employment. On a school bus, headed to an out-of-town high school football game, Robert and Linda first met. He was introduced to her as "Bobby" and she never knew him by any other name from that day on. She was drawn to his sense of humor and his impressions of popular comedians. He made everyone on the bus laugh, especially her. These high school sweethearts would come to be married just a few years later on December 31, 1966. This December 31st of 2021 would have been their 55th wedding anniversary.
Family was always important to Bobby; he was a real family man. But in 1974, Bobby and Linda realized that their quality of family life could be greatly improved by studying the Bible together. And that's exactly what happened when one of Jehovah's Witnesses came to their door. Little did they know, that day their lives would be changed for the better, forever. The summer of 1975 they were baptized together in symbol of their dedication to Jehovah God at a convention in Baton Rouge, LA.
Over the years, Bobby would come to assist several people to come to an accurate knowledge of Bible truths, as he himself had learned as a young man. And even though his poor health limited what he could do in the preaching work, he would still take opportunities to witness informally to doctors and nurses that he met at his appointments and chemotherapy sessions. He firmly believed, and instilled in his family the same hope, that there will be a future ressurection to life, in an earthly paradise as Jehovah God originally purposed.
