Robert's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Keith Baal Jr. Born on June 14, 1959, in Dubuque, Iowa, Robert went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2025.
Robert—also known as Bobby, Bob, Dad, and Bumpa—leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion that will continue through his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Donna Baal; his children Kevin Baal, Marie (Shane) Hamm, Stephenie (Kevin) Seger, and Joshua (Anna) Baal; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother Sylvia (Sugg) Syromi; and his siblings Debbie, Robin, Steve, Mike, Rita, and Faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Baal Sr.; his treasured grandson, Emmit Baal; his beloved sister, Amy Baal; and his stepmother, Darleen Strander.
After high school, Robert proudly enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his service, he worked in a variety of occupations—from the shipyard in Virginia to plumbing, tile installation, restaurant work in Florida and Deacon at First Baptist Church of Parrish FL. Yet, above all else, Robert considered helping his children grow in their love for Christ to be his greatest achievement. His life was a powerful illustration of faith, love, and commitment, and his legacy of family and faith will endure for generations to come.
Robert loved the outdoors and was happiest hunting, fishing, or golfing—always eager for time spent with his sons, family, and friends. His humor brought laughter and light to those around him, and his kindness drew people in, making him a beloved presence in his community. His fierce dedication to the people and principles he held dear was a testament to his steadfastness and loyalty.
