I am so sorry to hear of Robert's passing. My deepest sympathies and condolences to Randy and all of the family.

I was devastated to hear that Robert had passed! We were good friends for a couple of years at Calvary Baptist Church in Harlingen, and got to be very close. Robert, Randy, and I spent a summer on the ignorant end of grubbin’ hoes, weeding the cotton fields of Lamar, and the entire Ashley family showed me so much love, making me feel like I was one of their own. Robert was a true force of nature, with a huge smile for all, personality for days, and one of the best natural athletes I’ve ever known.

The thing I remember most is his amazing, beautiful, silky smooth, effortless voice, which was truly amazing and wonderful!  He gladly used it in praise of our Lord, in both the adult and youth choirs, and my fondest memories will always be singing many duets with Robert from’73-‘75.  We both left for college in the fall of’75, and I will forever regret staying in touch.

Fill all of heaven with that beautiful voice God blessed you with, my dear friend and brother, until we are reunited to sing the praises of our Lord and King!  Shirley, Suzanne, Randy, and Chelsea have been praying for you all, ever since we heard, and will continue to do so.

My condolences to Robert's family. I knew him briefly at the Pan Am Drama Department and later at First State Bank. I remember him well though and those are good memories. I wish our paths had crossed again.

Our dear and cherished Robert had a true loving and giving heart, greater than that of the finest gold🕊️

1 Peter 1:7 KJV

7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ🕊️

I knew Robert. He was a good guy. He could always listen and was a friend to be willing to help always in a good mood mood.

He  will be missed.
