Robert Allen Fox
June 12, 1952 - April 29, 2023
Robert Allen Fox, 70, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2023 in Katy, Texas. Fondly known as Bob, he was born on June 12, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois. A loving husband, beloved father and grandfather, dear brother, cherished friend, and respected veterinarian – these are what Bob represented and so much more.
Bob graduated from the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine as a Doctor of Veterinary Science (‘83). He practiced small animal medicine and opened Fox Animal Hospital in Evanston, IL in 1996. He was known for his gentleness, compassion and care for the animals he treated. He was well loved by his clients as he understood the place pets hold in the hearts of their owners. Among the numerous pets he owned are Claire and Emily, the Great Danes. He became known as the Great Dane doctor around town. He enjoyed traveling to Australia every year to visit his wife’s family. He would make side trips to Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, China and Hong Kong. Bob loved music, particularly rock and “big hair bands”. He was an excellent guitarist. Among his friends and family, he was well known for his sense of humor and wicked wit. Upon retirement in 2017, Bob and his wife moved to Katy, Texas to be closer to his daughters and their families. Although the time was short, he enjoyed many precious moments with his grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Kathryn Fox. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Joan Elizabeth Fox; daughters Morgan (Tim) Towsen and Jenna (Matt) Autenrieth; grandchildren Noah, Zoey, Ella and Emily. He is also survived by his brother Gary (Tina) and sisters Karen and Jean (Mark); sisters and brothers-in-law, Jenny (Godfrey), Jackie, Jack (Sherina) and John (Lina); and many nephews and nieces. He will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched in his 70 years.
