With dad's passing we lose not only his love of learning, passion for travel, and deep kindness, we also risk loosing his deep thought and insights about how to create more humane, sustainable, livable cities for future generations.

For more than 40 years, Dr Robert Samuels dedicated his visionary poet's sensitivity and scientist's precision to understanding cities: developing groundbreaking work on urban heat management and climate-responsive design. In a world increasingly challenged by climate change, his insights on creating cooler, more livable urban environments have never been more relevant.

Through this memorial fund we want to carry on Rob's legacy and ensure that his transformative work continues to shape the cities of tomorrow.

The funds will be used to make his insights accessible to a broader audience and promote and distribute his existing works.

We aim to:
1) Develop an illustrated children's book that introduce young minds to these concepts
2) Create K-12 curriculum materials focusing on urban ecology and climate solutions that illustrate Dr Samuels' research so that teachers can easily incorporate these insights into classroom.
3) Create a shorter guide focused on practical guidelines for urban planners and architects based on Dr Samuels' insights.
4) Create a marketing strategy to distribute the Timeless Cities books more broadly.
5) Sponsor an annual lecture or a scholarship on sustainable urban design at UNSW. Contribute
