I was going through a divorce when Jennifer, Rob and their two boys stopped over for a play date. Rob was so kind with my kiddos and I remember my son, who was 2 at the time, being especially upset when it was time for Rob to leave. He was so kind and gentle… rest in peace Rob…

I’m very sorry to hear this. I remember my experience with Rob most fondly; he was such a caring and easygoing teacher. I wish only the best for his family.

Words cannot express the depth of my desperation upon hearing the news. Rob, my first calculus teacher, patiently guided me when my English skills were lacking. Rob is the kindest man I have ever known. He possesses a delightful sense of humor, a sincere dedication to mathematics, and an exceptional ease of manner. It is unimaginable what has happened, as he is so young, and his children have tragically lost their father at such a tender age. May Rob rest in peace, and may God provide solace and strength to his family, helping them navigate through this difficult time.

I love rob. He is my high school stats teacher. Although I am a naughty boy, I always saw his patience with me and the attentiveness during the teaching. I really respect him and so sorry to hear this news. I hope that he can rest in peace.

Met Rob in Chongqing, China. He’s my favorite teacher in school, though I only spent two semesters with him. As an instructor, he did a really decent and excellent job. Rest in peace, Rob.

I am so very sorry to hear of this loss that came much too soon. My heart goes out to Robby's wife and their adorable boys as well as the rest of the family.
I knew Robby well in high school and into college. Robby was always kind, up for adventures, considerate of others, fun, athletic, witty, patient, respectful and so smart. He was always learning and wanting to learn more. I remember senior year of high school he decided to observe Ramadan - as far as I know, he wasn't looking to really convert to Islam, but wanted to learn more of the religion so he figured he'd practice some of it. I know of no other seniors that would voluntarily fast for multiple days! He would sometimes do his homework on his closet mirrors with dry erase markers, so they were often covered in (advanced) math equations.
I remember he loved playing volleyball and really enjoyed his club team. He was passionate about speech and debate. He loved his family and was a proud uncle. He nearly always wore his great big smile on his face.
Robby genuinely cared for others and was a true friend. I remember one night we had just arrived somewhere but a friend called because she was having car problems and didn't know who else to call. Robby immediately left to go help.
Despite traveling with two separate programs and living in two separate cities, Robby and I were both living in Ghana one summer during college. He was very kind and picked up some supplies from my mom before leaving the states and traveled on random buses to the city I was living in and showed up at the school I was volunteering at to deliver my packages. I later visited his town and it was easy to see the kids there loved him. We visited schools and an orphanage together - he gave sincere attention and love to all of the children we met.
I have no doubt he would have been a great father. I hope his boys will know of how highly others thought of their dad. I send lots of love and prayers to his wife, sons and all of their family and friends.

From the moment I met Robby at ASU I could tell he was one of the most genuine person I’ve ever met. He was very confident in everything he did and someone you’d want to be more like. His good looks earned him the JT (Justin Timberlake) nickname and something he hated/loved at the same time. Wish there was more we could do, I’m absolutely heartbroken for his boys and family. He’ll never be forgotten, hope everyone remembers him as the cheerful, passionate and generous person that I saw.

How do you wrap your mind around a life gone way before it's time? How does a spouse lose her best friend and other half when life has just started for them? How do two little boys wake up to a home that no longer has their hero coming home for dinner? How does an entire faculty and student body carry on with a huge piece missing? It is only done by truly knowing you will meet again one day in a place far better than this. James and Jesse your daddy will always be your superhero and for right now he is building you the biggest tree fort in the sky. A place where one day you will see him again and there will be nothing but happiness and love! My daughter was a student at the school your dad taught in and she said that there was nothing more important to him than you guys and your mom. She said when he talked about you his face would change and you could tell how proud he was. I'm so sorry this hurts so bad right now. You all will get through this because your Daddy is looking out for you! All our Love and Prayers, The Mangos (Dawn and Jessa)

My kids and I were fortunate to meet Rob when he and his family visited us for a playdate a few months after we moved into the neighborhood. The memory stays with me because my two-year-old son instantly bonded with Rob, and when Rob was leaving, my son was really sad. I remember him being very gentle, kind, compassionate and empathetic towards my kid, and it was just what my two-year-old needed. Before he walked out the door, he stooped and gave my son a big hug. It was a short visit, but I’ll never forget that memory. I’m stunned and saddened by this news, but will continue to hold his family in prayer and support.
