How you can help

Rob Halla, age 35, of Hudsonville, went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2023. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jennifer Halla; children, James Halla, Jesse Halla; father, Allan Halla; siblings, Kaycee Halla, Angela and Tre Powell, Chad Deslatte; mother-in-law, Susan Digue; sister-in-law, Lindsey and Kevin Beck; nephews and niece, Troy, Kaia, Alex, Elliot. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pamela Halla. Rob grew up in Mesa, AZ with his parents and siblings. He played varsity volleyball all 4 years of high school, completed his undergrad at Arizona State University and master’s at Arkansas State University. Rob was a dedicated AP calculus teacher; he helped students reach their full potential and fulfill their dreams. He travelled throughout college and moved abroad after leaving Arkansas. Rob taught in Colombia where he met his future wife, Jennifer, and also taught in China. Just before their first child, James, was born, they moved to Michigan to settle down near Jennifer’s family and build their lives together. Jesse was born 2 years later to complete the family. Rob was an absolutely amazing and loving father. He dedicated his life to his boys. He put them first in every way. He loved adventure and travelling as much and as far as he could go. He was the best person to climb a mountain with or take an overnight bus through the countryside. Everyone who met Rob loved him. He was easy-going and fit in anywhere he was. He loved a good competition and would win at just about anything against anyone. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, June 28, at 3:00 P.M. at Holy Redeemer Parish. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 27, from 3 to 6 P.M. at VanderLaan Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Rob’s family for James and Jesse’s future education. Contribute
