Rita's obituary

Rita Loretta Weyers (nee Kuehne)

March 13, 1956 – January 6, 2025

It is with great sadness that I announce Rita passed away from a blood clot in her lungs on January 6th, 2025. There was no warning and as far as we know, this was not related to her M.S. In lieu of a funeral, we plan to have a celebration of life on May 17th in Columbus. At this time, we gratefully decline flowers and hope that you would instead donate to the relief fund to help rebuild Asheville, North Carolina and house the people in immediate need of humanitarian help. Rita was passionate about Asheville and loved sharing this passion with others. She loved the food and arts scene along with the natural beauty of the area. If you wish to honor Rita's life by donating to Beloved Asheville, you can do so through the "Give" tab on this page- where you can also read more about this organization. It was Rita’s wish to eventually move down to Asheville, as Michelle and her partner Jon live there.

Rita lives on in our hearts and in the impact she had on others. She easily made many friends with her ability to connect with anyone about anything. She had a great sense of humor and a passion to travel. She arranged many trips for us all to go on, which resulted in us traveling to Canada, Mexico and most of the United States, including Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico. Having been to Europe a few times, we have been to Italy, Germany, Holland, France, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, Lichtenstein and Austria. We cruised to Aruba, Belize and Curacao, and visited the Panama Canal. She was hoping to go back to Germany again in the near future since she still has relatives living there and wanted to share the experience with our daughters.

Rita loved trying new things. While we were dating, she decided to try skydiving and she jumped not once, but twice. Throughout her life she tried parasailing, scuba diving, spelunking, white water rafting and zip-lining.

She was very intelligent and loved to expand her knowledge base. She was a 1974 graduate of Whetstone High School in Columbus, where she played the clarinet in the marching band. After graduating high school, she went on to attend Bowling Green University, Ohio State and Xavier University. Having earned her Masters Degree in Finance while working, raising a newborn and going to school, she graduated with honors. She went on to work many years at Wendy’s Corporate office in the Tax Department and the International Department. She loved to invest in and study the stock market and watched Jim Cramer on CNBC every day. In the last few years she has gotten our daughters involved in the stock market and helped a few friends get started in the market and counseled them along the way.

Rita’s legacy continues in the memories she made with those that knew and loved her. We would appreciate you taking a moment to share your favorite memories of Rita so we can know how she touched your life. Thank You, Glenn, Michelle and Melissa
