Rita Sarria Lopez, age 77 of Miami, FL, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022 after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a true fighter and made the most of every day, she had tremendous faith and trust in the Lord.

Born on May 22, 1944 (the feast day of Saint Rita) in Havana, Cuba, she was the daughter of the late Zoila Devesa Sarria and Joaquin Sarria and sister to her beloved late brother, Joseph Devesa Sarria and cherished late sister in law, Sue Hill Sarria.

She was the loving mother of Rebecca Lopez of Miami, FL and Yvonne (Oscar) Fernandez of Miami, FL; cherished grandmother of Jason Pertuz.

Rita was also a loving aunt to Devesa Sarria, the late Victor Sarria, the late Joseph (Katie) Sarria, Troy (Rene) Sarria and all of their beautiful children, Maddison, Nicole, Julianna, Marlene and Emmelise.

Rita worked many years in the mortgage industry until her diagnosis in 2013. She then had to start a new career path and did so with her beloved church, St. John Neumann Catholic Church in their Youth Ministry aside from her being a Eucharistic Minister for so many years. She also was an office manager for Laura Llerena and Associates until 2 weeks before her passing. She had always had the best work ethic and an intense drive that many admired. She was a ball of energy and a force to be reckoned with.

Her proudest legacy will always be her serving the Lord and sharing his love with her family and dear friends. She made it a point to always “Trust in the Lord with all your heart” Prov 3:5 throughout all her life struggles.
