Rita Russo, age 84, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. She was a remarkable individual whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of everyone she met.
Beyond her many passions, Rita had a deep love for music and dancing. She found joy in moving to the rhythm, whether it was a lively tune or a heartfelt melody. Her admiration for Elvis Presley was unmatched—his music filled her home, and his timeless songs brought her endless happiness. She could often be found dancing to his greatest hits, embracing the energy and spirit of rock and roll.
An accomplished golfer, Rita spent many joyful hours on the course, perfecting her swing and enjoying the company of friends. Her skill, patience, and love for the sport made her a cherished golfing companion and a source of inspiration to those who played alongside her.
Most of all, Rita was a devoted mother who raised four children with boundless love and dedication. She cherished every moment spent with them, offering guidance, laughter, and was a fierce supporter of them throughout their lives. Her love for children extended beyond her own family, as she found immense joy in babysitting, creating a nurturing and welcoming environment for little ones to thrive.
In addition to her many passions, Rita was a dedicated Girl Scout den mother for 15 years, guiding young girls through lessons of leadership, kindness, and self-confidence. She helped shape the lives of many, providing encouragement and wisdom as they grew into strong and capable individuals. Her commitment to mentorship was a testament to her generous spirit and belief in the power of community.
Rita was also an active member of the Women’s Club, where she forged lasting friendships and contributed to numerous initiatives that enriched the lives of those around her. She had a deep appreciation for nature and loved organizing hiking trips, encouraging others to embrace the beauty of the great outdoors. Whether trekking through scenic trails or simply enjoying the fresh air, Rita found peace and joy in nature’s embrace.
One of Rita’s greatest joys was traveling with her beloved husband, Louis. Together, they explored new places, shared incredible experiences, and embraced the adventure of life side by side. Whether discovering charming destinations or simply enjoying each other’s company on the road, their travels were a testament to their deep bond and love for the world around them.
She was preceded in death by her husband Louis Russo, her eldest son Louis and her sister Rosemary Lasher whom she loved deeply. Though she mourned their absence, she carried their memory in her heart, finding comfort in the moments they had shared. Now, she is reunited with them, resting in peace with those she cherished most.
Rita leaves behind three of her children, Christina Russo (Frank Manuella), Thomas Russo (Theresa), Rosemary Harren (Neil), daughter in-law Anne Fennelly, her 10 grandchildren, Louis Russo (Christine Jadeja) Evan Manuella ( Sinye Tang) Samantha Onorato (Andy) Alexandra Harren, Peter Manuella, Amanda Albanese (A.J.), Thomas Russo, Maxwell Harren, Alyssa Russo, Nicolas Russo and four great grandchildren. Her presence will be deeply missed by all but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, forever remembered and forever loved.
