Background

Rita was diagnosed with lung cancer and received radiation therapy to remove the tumors. While the treatment was successful in ridding her lungs of cancer, it is believed that the radiation treatment caused a paralyzed diaphragm, leaving her unable to breathe without supplemental oxygen. Rita's mother and father both died of cancer, so this is a cause that was very important to her. Contribute to American Cancer Research Center and Foundation  Right arrow
