On Sunday, March 24, 2019, Rita Maxine Neilson, loving wife and mother of two children, grandmother of seven, passed away at age 84. Rita was born on June 7, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to Paul and Ruth (Grischow) Galster. She was a graduate of John J. Pershing High School in Detroit, MI. On October 29, 1954 she married Graham Frederick (Fred) Neilson in Oak Park, MI, They raised two children, son, Paul, and daughter, Lori, in Troy, MI. Rita was an accomplished pianist and loved playing at church, senior centers and special events. In addition to her love of everything music, Rita was also an avid quilter. She won ribbons at Quilt shows and county fairs. In her early 30’s she acted in a community theater in Clawson, MI. She was a member of Good News Church in Leesburg, FL.

Rita is survived by her husband G. Fred Neilson, her son Paul, daughter in-law Lynn, and grandchildren: Timothy Pudduck, Christopher Pudduck, Lindsey Meyer, Kaylee Drulias, Maggie Neilson and McGregor Neilson. She is also survived by her sister Peggy Clark and brother, Fred Galster. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Ellen Pudduck and grandson, Jeffery Philip Pudduck.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Lakeview Terrace Life Care Community’s Living Well Fitness & Aquatic Center, 201 Clubhouse Vista Road, Altoona, FL 32702 on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm.
