Rita's obituary

On September 15th, 2023, the world lost a beautiful soul, Rita Garst. Born Rita Triantafilles on November 25th, 1948, she was known for her vibrant personality, marked by her buoyant humor, warm camaraderie, and caring disposition. Her love for life was contagious and she touched many lives with her radiant smile and boundless energy.

Rita is remembered lovingly by her beloved spouse, Larry Garst, her loving daughter, Laura Stoy, son-in-law, Patrick Stoy, and her sweet granddaughter, Piper Stoy who were the heart of her universe. She also leaves behind her brother, Jim Triantafilles and sister, Tina Hanzas.

Rita was known for her bubbly personality, that could light up any room. She had a great fondness for spaghetti, complemented with her favorite drink, an ice-cold Diet Coke. Her soulful voice often hummed the tunes of Bonnie Raitt, and her evenings were incomplete without the comforting episodes of her favorite TV shows on Hallmark. Often, she was seen meticulously playing crossword or jumble puzzles, two of her most loved games.

Her favorite recreational activity was spending cherished moments with her granddaughter and family. She loved walking with her granddaughter to the park. This simple routine was one of her preferred ways to keep fit. Known for her love for shopping, she often frequented local spots, adding color to her wardrobe with her favorite shade of purple.

Rita was exceptionally creative, her natural talent shining particularly bright during the holidays when she decorated the house with a keen eye for aesthetic beauty. Her life lessons, especially her credo of loving with all your heart, were profoundly inspiring.

Rita's vibrant spirit and zest for life remain undimmed in the memories of her loved ones. Her legacy lives on in her sweet granddaughter Piper Ann and her daughter Laura Ann. Rita Garst lived her life embracing everyone she met with love and warmth, never knowing a stranger, and always with the biggest heart.
