Rio's obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of Rio Hovel, a beloved husband, father, brother, and son, who passed away on November 2, 2023. Born on January 22, 1991, Rio imprinted an indelible mark of love and inspiration on every life he touched.
Rio's love story started in 2004 when he met his soulmate, Andrea Hovel, whom he later married in 2012. Blessed with two beautiful daughters, Maci and Nyssa Hovel, his joy as a father knew no bounds. His love for his family was mirrored in his relationships with his brothers, Jacob and Joseph Hovel, and his sister, Soleil Dye-Cady. His legacy of love extends to his parents, Suzanne Dye and Carl Hovel, and his step-parents, Ann Hovel and Tony Cady.
His love for golf was evident in his unwavering dedication to the improvement and performance of his game. When he wasn't on the golf course, Rio enjoyed attending shows from the symphony and Broadway, to live comedy.
Rio's adventurous spirit found solace in outdoor activities from fishing, hiking, and camping. When indoors he enjoyed dancing with his wife, Andrea, and spending quality time with family. A fitness enthusiast, he enjoyed weight lifting, proving that strong will is the greatest strength of all. His love for travel took him to the beautiful landscapes of Tennessee, where he fell in love and made it his final home.
Described as ambitious, witty, and fun-loving by his loved ones, Rio's protective nature was his defining quality. He firmly believed that real men live life with everything they have and protect the people they love above all other things. This belief is his legacy, and his life serves as a shining example to his daughters of what love truly looks like.
Rio will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His absence leaves a void, but his spirit continues to inspire, love, and protect.
