Rio's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of the beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, Rio Diaz, who left us too soon on August 18, 2023, due to complications in surgery. Born on August 10, 2004, Rio was a radiant soul whose impact will be cherished forever.
Rio was a compassionate, witty, artistic, silly and unique individual. He never missed an opportunity to spread joy and laughter. An advocate of not taking life too seriously, he relished in the game of life and thrived in its ups and downs. His whimsical spirit and zest for life were truly infectious.
While his oppurtunity to experience this life's journey was cut short, Rio consistently demonstrated his ability to thrive; from the challenges his body and heart presented at birth, to his graduation from Delphi Academy in June of this year. He took pride in his most recent academic accomplishments, which were only a testament to his determination and intelligence.
Rio is survived by his loving parents, Yvette Espinosa and Jose Diaz, and his cherished sisters, Yana and Maya Diaz, as well as his entire extended family. His loss is deeply felt by his family and friends, but his spirit and legacy will forever be remembered and celebrated, and we rejoice in knowing he will carry all of his wonderful qualities in to his next journey.
A Celebration of Life for Rio will be held on September 2, 2023, at 4:00 PM at Camp Soule, Greater Tampa Bay Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. This will be a chance for friends, family, and well-wishers to come together, share postulates for his next chapter, remember, and pay tribute to Rio’s vibrant life and everlasting impact.
The family would like to emphasize this is a CELEBRATION. In light of this, all in attendance are asked to wear a splash (or more) of Rio's favorite color, red. In addition, all in attendance will be asked to share a memory or postulate for Rio, written on or in a seashell. For those who so wish, you may enjoy a walk on the beach to choose and bring your own, or we will have them ready for those who do not.
In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established named "Rio's Celebration of Life". Donations can be made to the fund by visiting https://everloved.com/life-of…. All proceeds will be used to commemorate Rio's life in a manner befitting his joie de vivre and radiance.
Rio leaves behind a legacy of creating joy, embracing family, and spreading laughter. His lessons, values, and indomitable spirit will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of those he touched. Rest in peace, Rio.
