Rinda's obituary
Rinda Annette Akins passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025, surrounded by her husband and children. Born on December 17, 1980, in Vincennes, Indiana, Rinda was known for her dedication to her family and passion for learning.
Rinda graduated as salutatorian from North Knox High School in 1999 and continued her studies at Indiana State University, where she majored in finance and business. She earned a law degree from Indiana University while starting her career at Travelers Insurance as a Special Liability Claims Adjuster where she worked for over twenty years.
Outside of her professional life, Rinda truly cherished her role as a mother. She spent countless hours cheering on her kids from the sidelines of soccer and rugby games, many of which included memorable weekend trips together. She found immense joy in traveling with her family on vacations, including many Disney trips. She also cherished quiet movie nights together at home, taking nighttime walks with her family, and countless hours reading, creating warm memories along the way. Above all else, Rinda loved being with her family.
Rinda is survived by her husband of 21 years, Anthony (Tony) Akins, and her three daughters, Lainey, Kelsie, and Chloe, who will forever remember her love, guidance, and the laughter she brought into their lives.
She is also survived by James Willus Hooten (father), James Otis Hooten, (brother), Connie Anspaugh (Mother-In Law), Jeff Anspaugh (Father-In Law), Johnna Bautista (Sister In-Law), Mike Bautista (Brother In-Law), Brady Akins (Brother In-Law), Stephanie Akins (Sister In-Law), many nieces and nephews, step siblings, and friends. She is preceded in death by mother Nancy Hooten, James and Lelia Hooten (grandparents), and Maxine and Otis Donaldson (grandparents).
Rinda’s warmth, determination, and genuine love for life will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. Her legacy of kindness and resilience will continue to inspire us all.
