Ricky's obituary
Ricky Lee Hofer, 76, passed away unexpectedly on February 11th, 2026, due to a tragic house fire in Austin, Minnesota.
Ricky was born on December 25th, 1949, in Huron, South Dakota to Tobey and Evie Hofer.
Ricky was known for his love (and frustrations) of the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. In his younger years, he was an avid athlete and spent time coaching basketball. He will always be remembered for his love of Chevy’s. He spent his life working as a meat processor and working security after retirement. He was also a valued, retired, member of the South Dakota Army National Guard and did several tours overseas. He was very proud of his service to his country.
Ricky is survived by two daughters, Alicia Joritz (Travis), Alana Willis (Bill), two step-children, Michael Parmley (Tiffany), Amanda Hidalgo, five grandchildren, Brandon Joritz, Austin Joritz (Kecia), Dylan Joritz, Elyse Willis, Avery Willis, two great-grandchildren, Presley Joritz, Ella Joritz, three step-grandchildren, Zach Parmley, Cody Parmley, Bobby Horvatin, a step-great-grandson, Kazamir Parmley, a brother, Rod Hofer (Kathy), and one niece, Amber Kastner (Tim). He was preceded in death by his parents, Tobey Hofer and Evie Hofer (Maass), an infant brother, wife of 26 years Susan Hofer, and niece, Angie Brown.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW in Brandon, South Dakota (321 S. Main Ave.) on May 9th, 2026 at 2:00 PM. Please join us for a casual gathering to celebrate the life and spirit of Ricky. We’re gathering to share memories, laughter, and stories.
