Ricky's obituary

Ricky David Harvey, known affectionately as Ricky to his friends and family, left this world on November 29, 2024, at the age of 43. Born on March 17, 1981, in Lansing, Michigan, Ricky was a lifelong resident of the city he loved, and it was there that he peacefully passed away, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family.

Ricky, the cherished son of David and Collene Harvey, was the brother who added laughter and joy to every family gathering. He grew up alongside his sisters, Lynn, Jessica, and Kristina, in a home filled with love and spirited camaraderie. Ricky's role as an uncle to his nephews, Alan, Justin, and Kayden, and his niece, Sabrina, was one he embraced with all the enthusiasm and affection in his heart. He will be fondly remembered as the uncle who could always be counted on for a fun time, a good story, or a patient ear.

Those who knew Ricky will recall his infectious laughter and the lively energy he brought to any room. He was the life of the party during family game nights, where he was both a fierce competitor and a gracious partner in games of euchre and dominoes. His love for card games was only matched by his passion for fishing, an activity where he found both excitement and solace. Ricky's dedication to his hobbies was a testament to his spirited nature and his ability to find joy in the simple pleasures of life. A loyal fan, Ricky never missed an opportunity to watch WWE wrestling, enthusiastically following the storylines and cheering on his favorite wrestlers. His humor and lively commentary during these events often turned a regular evening in front of the TV into a memorable occasion for all who joined him. Ricky's fondness for family dinners at the hibachi grill is a cherished memory for all who shared those meals with him. It was his favorite place, not just for the food, but for the laughter and bonding that occurred around the table.

The words "funny," "spirited," and "selfless" capture the essence of Ricky's personality. He was a man who prioritized the happiness of others, always willing to lend a hand or share a joke to brighten someone's day. Ricky's selflessness extended beyond his family, touching the lives of friends and acquaintances alike. He will be remembered as a man who gave freely of himself, never expecting anything in return.

Ricky's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit remains a guiding light. His laughter, his generosity, and his unwavering love for his family are the legacies he leaves behind. As we say goodbye to Ricky David Harvey, we celebrate the time we had with him and the countless memories that will continue to bring smiles to our faces for years to come.

In honor of Ricky's life, a celebration of life will be held in Lansing on December 15 2024 at American Legion 2949 S Waverly Hwy, Lansing, MI 48911 at 2pm, where friends and family will gather to share stories, tears, and laughter, just as he would have wanted. The family invites all who knew Ricky to join in commemorating a life well-lived—a life full of love, laughter, and the joy of shared moments. Ricky's presence will be deeply missed, but the imprint he left on our hearts will never fade.
