Rick's obituary
We are greatly saddened to announce the passing of Ricky "Rick" Hanmer on December 25, 2025. A man known for his wit and free spirit, Rick was born on June 27, 1958 and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and ice cream cones.
Rick will be warmly remembered by his wife Tammy Hanmer and his children Katie Visbeck, Chris Hanmer, and Nathan Hanmer. He also leaves behind his stepdaughters and numerous grandchildren, who will remember him affectionately as "Monkey Butt".
Rick grew up in Dixfield, Maine and attended local schools. He fondly shared stories of living in the rural area and bathing in the river. Later, Rick moved to Utah where he had his three biological children. In Utah, Rick discovered his fondness for computers which helped jumpstart his professional career.
Throughout his life, Rick was a loyal member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where he found solace, community, and spiritual fulfillment. His faith played a significant role in his life and helped guide him in his journey.
Rick was a man of simple pleasures. He found utmost delight in feeding his ducks, going for motorcycle rides and cross country road trips, and most notably, spending time with his family. His day was often complete with a can of Moxie, his favorite drink, and a scoop or two of his favorite ice cream.
His witty, free-spirited personality will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will continue to live on in those he loved and cared for.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, as part of Rick’s legacy. Donations can be made at the following address: https://everloved.com/life-of…
