Ricky Defreitas, 70, of Peoria, Illinois died on 12/18/23 in Star Valley, AZ where he resided with his son, Dan Leonard and family. Born in Peoria, IL on 12/28/1952 to Charles Leroy Defreitas and Dorothy Irene St. Clair. He graduated from Richwood’s High School in 1970. He lived most of his life in the Peoria area.

Ricky loved sports especially baseball and hockey. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved playing cards with friends. He umpired baseball games throughout the greater Peoria area. He was willing to help friends in ways that most people would not. He spent many years caring for his Step-Dad, Harold as he declined in health. He met his son, Dan as an adult since Dan had been put up for adoption without Ricky’s knowledge. God brought them together which completed both of their lives. He adored his Grand-Daughters and seeing his Great-Grandson brought him joy.

Ricky is survived by his Father, Charles Defreitas of Bartonville; Siblings – John Defreitas (Peoria County), Harold Hand (Noreen), Robert Hand (Dianna), Valerie Duncan(Peoria) and many nieces and nephews; Son, Dan Leonard (Julie) of Star Valley, AZ; Grandson, Nathan Leonard; Granddaughters, Hannah (John) McBroom, Rachel Leonard and Sarah Leonard; Great-Grandson, Rowan McBroom. Ricky was preceded in death by his Mother, Dorothy St. Clair, Step-Father, Harold Hand and Half-Brother, James Hand.
