Ricky's obituary
Rick was an avid outdoorsman - often hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a skilled woodworker, “shade-tree mechanic”, and carpenter. Some other passions of Rick's included gardening, cooking, spending time with his dogs, and enjoying get-togethers with his many friends. He was a steel press operator for several decades and retired from Thiel Tool and Engineering, Inc. in 2019 after 21 years of service.
Rick met his true love Deana Creekpaum in 2006. Together, they made a home that was welcoming to all and continued to have adventures doing what Rick loved best.
After being diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer in March of 2019, Rick passed peacefully on with family and a lifelong friend at his side. Even after his diagnosis, he continued to live his life to its fullest until the very end.
Rick is survived by his siblings, Sharon, Karen, Patty, and David; his three children Stephanie (Decorda) McGee, Jason (Amy) Calahan, and Colleen (Jackie Walker) Calahan; Seven grandchildren Josie, Evan, Lena, Sparrow, Kairi, Langston, and Vera; a wide circle of friends; and his faithful love Deana Creekpaum.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 6:30 pm at Braun Family Funeral Home in Columbia, Illinois. A Memorial Service will follow at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. In following Rick's wishes, his body was cremated.
