Rick's obituary

Ricky Darrell “Dad-O” Etheredge

Ricky Darrell Etheredge, 77,  of San Angelo went to be with the Lord after a long battle with Alzheimer's dementia on March 2, 2025.

Rick was born in Rotan, Texas on May 12th, 1947 to Bob and Jo Etheredge. He graduated from Plainview High School in Plainview, Texas, in 1965 where he was a proud three-year letterman of the football team. He joined the United States Army on October 10th, 1966, and served during the Vietnam war era. Following his service, he married the love of his life, Sherry Burnett Etheredge on July 26th, 1969 in Cotton Center, Texas. They were married 50 years before she passed away in 2019. Rick spent most of his adult life working in human relations for various electric companies, rooting for his kids and grandkids, and making friends wherever he went.

Rick was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry, his parents Bob and Jo Etheredge, and his granddaughter Evie Michelle Armstrong.

He is survived by daughter Cara Stone and Scott of Merkel, TX; daughter Julie Armstrong and Chris of Tioga, TX; grandchildren Carley Miller and her husband Kyle, Slade Stone, Camryn Stone, Collins Armstrong, Abigail Armstrong, and soon to be great grandson, baby Miller; brothers Rusty and David; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to all who helped care for our “Dad-O” in the final stages of this awful disease. Thank you to all of the nurses and staff at Lamun-Lusk Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring, Texas and Angels Care Hospice of Midland, Texas. Rick was always a very proud American and Texan, and the way he was honored by each caregiver and the Texas State Veterans Home goes unmatched.

“ For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” 2 Corinthians 5:1
