Dick's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard "Dick" Yost, a cherished father and husband, a devout Christian, and a commendable man who lived a life of service, on December 8, 2023. Dick, born in 1929, held an unwavering faith and passion for life that touched everyone around him.
Dick was a man of notable personality traits. He was personable, engaging everyone he met with his innate warmth and sincerity. He was passionate, pouring his energy into anything he held dear. Most importantly, he was adventurous, embracing the unpredictability of life with grace and aplomb. Yet, despite his many qualities, Dick was known for his humility and his knack for incorporating humor into the simplest of interactions.
His life was a testament to his faith and love for our Lord Jesus Christ. This was evident in the lessons he shared - faith, above all, was the cornerstone of his existence, and he believed in the power of service to others. His love extended beyond his own family to the wider world, as he served Christ and his community wholeheartedly.
Dick will forever be remembered for his various accomplishments. He loved his family deeply, an affection that shone brightly in his interactions and deeds. His service to Christ was unparalleled and he was an active member of the Gideons International, a role through which he touched countless lives. His adventurous spirit led him to the Christian Motorcycle Club and the Blue Knights. Above all, he will be remembered for his dedication to the El Paso County, Colorado Sheriff's Department where he served as a volunteer Chaplain, providing spiritual guidance and support to those who needed it most. Dick was also a proud United States Air Force Veteran serving in England, Europe, and North Africa during the forgotten Korean war from 1950 -1954.
Survived by his daughters Heidi Allen, Daina Yost, and son, Eric Yost along with his two grandson's Ryan Yost and Dylan Yost,
Dick's legacy lives on. He strived to live a life that exemplified living for Christ, and his influence will continue to be felt by all who were lucky enough to know him. His spirit of service, devotion to faith, and unwavering love will forever remain in our hearts.
As we bid farewell to Dick, we find solace in the knowledge that he lived a fulfilling life, filled with faith, love, and service. His enduring spirit, personable nature, passionate demeanor, and adventurous soul will forever be missed but will forever inspire us. Rest in peace, Dick Yost.
