Rick's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Wood Jr., a charismatic and beloved man, known to everyone as Rick. He was born on May 17, 1956, and peacefully departed this life on March 1, 2024.
Known for his charm, humor, and diligent work ethic, Rick was a light to everyone who had the privilege of meeting him. He had a unique ability to make people smile, and his presence radiated positivity and joy, leaving a lasting impression on all.
Rick was a talented bricklayer by trade, leaving his architectural mark across the city. Among his numerous achievements, he took great pride in constructing the Plaza of the Rockies and the memorial wall in Fountain. These landmarks serve as a testament to his hard work and dedication, standing tall as a constant reminder of his remarkable skills and craftsmanship.
His life was a living example of his favorite lesson, "Enjoy every moment." Whether spending time with family, fishing with his buddies, or working on his latest project, Rick lived his life to the fullest, inspiring those around him to do the same.
Rick is survived by the mother of his children (whom he lovingly referred to as Dewey) Valarie Book (Ronald); adoring daughters, Chelsie Wood (Jed) and Carly Sumner (Clayton); his proud sons, Brent Weber and Luke Wood (Natalie); nine beautiful grandchildren; sister, Rose Rutledge (Todd); brothers, Larry Wood (Cindy), James Wood (Deana), and Robert Wood; and many nieces and nephews. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but he also leaves behind countless precious memories. His stories, shared laughter, and unwavering encouragement will continue to be cherished and remembered fondly by all who knew him.
As we bid him farewell, we take solace in knowing that Rick's legacy will live on in his accomplishments, lessons, and the memories he has left behind. His tremendous spirit will forever be etched in our hearts.
