I am so sorry for his family. Gene and I served in the Marine Corps together in Japan. He was always fun to be around and we shared some good times!! My condolences on his passing!! He was a good guy!!!

I ran with Gene in college and he was one of a kind, to say the least. Gene was a great friend and person that helped elevate all those around him to be better people. We attended MOS school (0481) together and went to Okinawa Japan from there where for a short time he was my roommate. I will never forget our first run with our Company 1st Sgt. I first met Gene 5 1/2 years ago at Lenexa Baptist Church. I'd see him every Friday. We talked a lot. We were in the same groups and even had one of the classes together. He was a great friend.
