Dave and Jeff and family,

Patty and my sympathies to you and your family in the loss of your father.  Your stories of him will help keep his memory alive.

Warm regards,

Mike and Patty Robichaud

My heartfelt sympathies to the Wallis family on the passing of Dick. I worked for Dick at 3M Engineering Medical Imaging. He was a pleasure to work for and was blessed with both people skills and technical smarts. More than any boss I ever had, Dick had an uncanny sense for when to leave things alone and when to jump in. Through all the work stress and turmoil, he never lost his calmness, his gentle demeanor and that wry sense of humor.

Rest in peace, my leader and friend.

Dear Cookie & Family, I am so very saddened with Dick’s passing and still shocked while I knew the end probably was near when I talked to him the last time on the phone. I have known Dick for over 50 years. I had the pleasure of having Dick as my manager three times at 3M, in PI&C, at 3M in Italy, and when he became Medical Imaging Division Engineering Manager and we both ended our careers with a couple of years at Imation. Dick was a very hard-working manager who always had 3M’s interest in mind. He was a very good listener and great motivator. Dick always supported innovation. Not one of very many words but what he said always was valuable and very supportive. As a person very honest. Always truthful and no politics. Dick was a great defender of his people when they got into trouble. I always knew he had my back. And on occasions, when necessary, he would send me to the doctor or home when I wasn’t smart enough to go myself. Or Dick gave me assistance when I wanted to finish starting up a project with a broken shoulder and I remember when he wanted me to stay home while I argued that my brain was not broken and wanted to finish my project myself. Dick was the best manager I had during my time at 3M and the reason I stayed. Dick even went beyond the call of duty by volunteering Cookie and himself as witnesses for my wedding when I had to ask him for a day off to get married. But Cookie could not make it. I owe Dick much.
