Richard's obituary

Richard Thomas Miller, aged 49, passed away on February 12, 2025 in his childhood home in Midlothian, IL, surrounded by family.

He was born on February 19, 1975 in Blue Island, IL to parents Nancy (Swanson) and Thomas Miller.

Rich was preceded in death by both sets of his grandparents; Francis (Cramer) and Donald James Miller as well as Evelyn Jane (Armstrong) and William Herbert “Moe” Swanson.

He was survived by his precious daughter Julianna A. Miller, his fiancé and other half Megan Cline, and his loving and devoted parents. He leaves behind countless friends and family members.

As a kid, he loved school, had perfect attendance, and was on the swim team. He loved go-karts and hanging out with some of the friends he still had at the end.

He was the type of dad to go skating with his daughter, volunteer to help at her baseball practices, and get dressed up for Daddy Daughter dances. The type of dad who showed up and would go to the moon for his girl. He loved being outside, camping, swimming, sitting around a campfire with his friends.

Rich was an animal lover who always had a hard time saying no to new pets. He leaves behind a cat and his two boys, Maddox and Oddis. He had a sense of humor, the gift of gab, and could make friends wherever he went.

He had a strong work ethic that he inherited from his parents. At the end, he worked as a mechanic and at that shop he was known as the Wizard, for his beard. He was also the kind of co-worker and human being who would always go out of his way to help people even if it meant staying after his shift. He was a jack of all trades, if he didn’t know how to do something, he’d simply learn how to.

In his final days, Rich was surrounded by a constant stream of loved ones who kept a smile on his face and milkshakes in his belly.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Rich’s name to the American Cancer Society.
