Richard's obituary

Richard Emmet Taylor III, 54, of Lumberton, NC passed away on May 15, 2021 after a blood clot in the brain that caused a major stroke and severely damaged the brain stem. Richard was born on June 30, 1966 to Shirley Taylor and Richard E. Taylor Jr

After earning his GED in 1985, Richard joined the US Coast Guard and began his basic training in Cape May, NJ. His first commission was in Sturgeon Bay, WI, where he began his training as a rescue swimmer. He was honorably discharged in 1988, returned home to St Paul's, NC and began his career as an over the road truck driver.

On May 16, 1990 his daughter, Casey Michelle was born.

On June 13, 2012 Richard met the love of his life, Renee Warren and they married March 28, 2015. They enjoyed 6 years together, filled with love and laughter.

Richard lived his life enthusiastically and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a strong faith in and love for God. His exuberance, compassion, loyalty and thoughtfulness led to his decision to be an organ donor. He would be proud to know that these gifts will help others enjoy the rest of their lives. Richard loved his family and would be thankful to know he helped others to be able to enjoy more time with their own families. His smile was unforgettable along with his immense passion for Nascar, Duke, the Tennessee Titans and the Houston Astros.

Richard was predeceased by his Mother, Shirley Taylor Hobbs, his Grandfather, Raymond Taylor, his Grandmother Emma Hollingsworth Taylor and his beloved dogs Rose and Miss Emma.

Richard is survived by his wife Renee Taylor, his daughter Casey Taylor, his granddaughter Zoey, his father Richard E (Carolyn) Taylor Jr, his sisters, Aletta (Steve) Butler, Debra (William) Barefoot, Cousin Robert (Diann) Jansen, brother Dwayne Branham, nephews, Nicholas, Jacob, Michael and Preston Branham, Chris Warren and Jacob Shannon. His beloved dogs Roxie, Roy and Pup.

Richard's family and friends will miss him more than words can say.

There will be a funeral service held at 3pm, May 23, 2021 at Great Marsh Baptist Church, 270 Great Marsh Church Rd, St Paul's, NC.
