Dick's obituary

Richard "Dick" Norman Stephenson, of Dayton, Texas, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, February 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 29, 1946, in Theresa, New York, Dick was the son of the late Norman Jerome and Hattie Elizabeth Cook Stephenson.

A man of many talents and passions, Dick enjoyed hunting, coaching baseball and softball, and creating and building with his hands. He was known for his sharp wit, intelligence, and humor—often serving as the resident smart aleck and jokester in any room he entered. His sarcastic charm and quick comebacks will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings, Jean Curtis; Rosemary Kervin and her husband Marvin; Debbie Slate; and Robert Stephenson.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Stephenson of Dayton, Texas; his children, Bobbie White and husband Jacob of Splendora, Texas, Richard Stephenson, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Dayton, Texas, and Tamara Robbins and husband Shelton of Hull, Texas. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Gabrielle Barber and husband Coulter along with The Egg of Cleveland, Texas; Sophia Todaro and Gunner White of Splendora, Texas; Ashlyn, Kayla, and Jacie Stephenson of Dayton, Texas; Alexis Jones and husband Rob of Liberty, Texas; Shelbie and Austin Robbins of Liberty, Texas; as well as his various great-grandchildren.

Dick is also survived by his siblings: Ronnie Stephenson and wife Roslyn of Alexandria Bay, New York; Mark Stephenson and wife Sandy of Vero Beach, Florida; Jack Stephenson and wife Lisa of Evans Mill, New York; and Sue Thompson and husband Arnie of Adams, New York. He leaves behind a host of other loving relatives and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Dick’s presence brought laughter and light to the lives he touched. His legacy of love, humor, and craftsmanship will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
