Richard's obituary
Richard “Rick” Stegmeyer 85, of Englewood, FL passed away on November 2, 2022, after a long and exciting life.
He is survived by his loving wife Joan, sons Ken (Debbie) Rowley, Shawn (Beth) Rowley, Eric (Lania), Kirk (Christine), sister Lois (McCulloch) and fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Rick was predeceased by brother Bill, sister Adele (Ryan), son Sean, grandson Jamie (Rowley) and grandson Jackson.
Rick was known for his tremendous, oftentimes larger than life, personality. His kindness, sense of humor (often referred to as sarcasm) and outgoing nature always made him the life of the party. He was extremely proud of his family and enjoyed bragging about the accomplishments of his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
Rick was born on February 20, 1937, to Bill and Emma Stegmeyer in East Detroit, MI. After graduating from Grosse Pointe High in 1955, he went on to study Journalism at Michigan State University (Go Green!).
Following his graduation from MSU in 1959, he started his illustrious career in marketing and advertising, eventually starting his own successful agency in 1976. Rick was a marketing legend in the automotive industry earning respect for his vision and creativity up until his retirement in 1990. He was an avid golfer and the most passionate Michigan State Spartans and Detroit Tigers fan that you would ever meet.
Celebration of his life will be held at Englewood United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 11:00am. An additional memorial service will be held on January 3, 2023 at 11:00am at the United Methodist Church in Byron, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital, an organization Rick supported and felt strongly about.
