Richard's obituary
Richard Stanley DeWitt, 87, of Clovis CA passed peacefully surrounded by Family on Dec. 1st, 2025.
Richard was born on August 22nd 1938 to Adolphus and Grace DeWitt of Clovis CA. Richard enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country as a member of the 191st Fighter Squadron at NAS Moffet Field California. He participated in a tour of the Western Pacific aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard (CV-32). During his time in the Navy he married Joyce Moore and together they had one Daughter, Donna. After completing his four years of service in the Navy he met and married Norma Reese, together they had 3 children, Kathaleen, Mary and Richard Jr. In 1979 he married Linda Anderson who had one son, Jeffrey, when they met.
Richard was a devoted father, a cherished uncle and mentor to his many nieces and nephews, as well as a true friend to many. He was a modern day Renaissance Man who turned his hands to many a trade and hobby and truly believed that a person, no matter their age, should never stop learning, and that is exactly how he lived his life. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Larry, William and Art and sisters Frances, Delilah, Roberta and Alma. He is survived by one sister Becky Hackney, his children Donna Martin and son-in-law Danny of Missouri, Kathaleen Kahoe of Oklahoma, Mary DeWitt of California, Richard DeWitt Jr. and wife Susanne and Jeffrey DeWitt of California, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
A Memorial Service will take place on January 30th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints located at 220 N. Peach Ave., Clovis CA 93612, at 10 AM, to be Followed by a graveside ceremony that the Clovis Cemetery on Villa and Clovis Ave. at 12:00 noon. There will be a reception following the graveside ceremony back at the church until 3 PM.
