Richard's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard "Dick" Simon, who left us peacefully on August 13, 2020, one day after his 82nd birthday. Richard, affectionately known as Dick, was a man respected and loved by many. His preference to be addressed as Richard exemplified his unique blend of humor and seriousness.

Richard was born on August 12, 1938. He dedicated his life to emulating his father's legacy as a machinist. This commitment to craftsmanship and attention to detail was one of his greatest accomplishments and is a testament to his unwavering determination and self-discipline.

Richard had a unique taste that he openly shared with everyone around him. He had a great love for cheeseburgers and fries, and enjoyed unwinding with a warm cup of tea. His affinity for Irish music and science books reflected his diverse interests. He found joy in immersing himself in the world of NCIS and appreciated the cinematic brilliance of "The Kings Speech". Christmas shows were his favorite performances to watch, while tossing himself into the world of television was his favored pastime.

Physically active and adventurous, Richard was always ready for a good swim. Ocean City held a special place in his heart, and was his favorite vacation spot. Richard was also passionate about the welfare of animals, showing particular care for the ASPCA cause. His favorite color was fittingly black - simple, strong, and dignified, much like Richard himself.

His loved ones will remember him as someone who could bring laughter to any room, but also as a man who valued honesty above all else. He was a person who carved a life based on principles and love. He is survived by his beloved spouse, Caroline Simon, who describes their life together as a testament to Richard's capacity for love. She misses him deeply and cherishes the love they shared.

Richard, your legacy of love, honesty, and dedication continue in the hearts of those who knew you. You will be greatly missed, and forever remembered.
