Richard's obituary
Richard J. Rycharski, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Friday, October 4th, 2024. He was 67 years old.
Rick was the devoted husband of 32 years to Laurie (nee Gough) Rycharski, and the wonderful father to his two sons Christopher (Lexi) and Michael (Noel). He is survived by his two sisters Kathleen and Geraldine, as well as his niece, nephews, and in-laws.
Rick was born on September 16th, 1957 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the second of three children to Ted and Mickey Rycharski. He grew up in the Port Richmond section of the city and graduated from North Catholic High School. He went on to obtain a civil engineering degree from Temple University. He spent his career in commercial real estate development. He worked for Shooster Properties for over 30 years, and for the last six years was the Director of Real Estate Development for PH&C, LLC out of Wayne, PA. His professionalism and industry knowledge were unmatched. Rick also served as the Chairman of the Warrington Planning Commission for over 12 years, and his civic contributions will be missed.
Without question, Rick’s greatest accomplishment was raising his two sons Christopher and Michael with his wife Laurie. He was a very devoted and involved father, being a Boy Scout leader and an ice hockey coach for many years. He supported and encouraged them to be the successful men that they are today. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing, boating, and tactical weapons training. He was a gun safety ranger for many years. He spent much of his twenties and early thirties living part time in Avalon, where he owned a number of boats on which he enjoyed racing and water skiing.
Rick was an incredibly skilled carpenter and woodworker. He always had a project he was working on, constantly improving his beautiful home with Laurie. Aside from his family, his home was a source of great pride. He was the first phone call for any family member who needed help. Rick was a quiet man, but his tremendous character was evident immediately upon meeting him. He will be sorely missed by countless family, friends, and colleagues.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2100 York Road, Jamison. Visitation begins at 12:30 and services will commence at 1pm.
