With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Mr. Richard Ruland, who left us on March 21, 2025. Born on July 9, 1940, Richard lived a full and fruitful life, touching the hearts and minds of all those around him.

Richard will be forever remembered by his loving wife, Marilyn Ruland, and their cherished children, Laurie Itskov, Timothy Ruland, and Rebecca Campbell. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the lives of his grandchildren, Rachel Gwin, Logan, Lillian and Gavin Campbell, Hannah and Amanda Itskov, and Stephanie Ruland.

Sailing was not just a hobby, but a passion for Richard, providing him the satisfaction of a good exercise and the tranquility that comes from being in harmony with nature. His love for sailing is a source of countless fond memories for his family and friends, regularly out in the sea with the wind in his hair and a smile on his face.

To honor Richard's life, a Memorial Service will be held on May 30, 2025, at 11:00am at the Schoharie Reformed Church Cemetary.  A lunch will follow.  All who knew him are welcome to join us as we share stories, shed tears, and remember a life well lived.

The loss of Richard is felt deeply by many, but the love, wisdom, and kindness he brought into the world will continue to resonate in the hearts of the people lucky enough to have known him. Richard Ruland was not just a name, but a beacon of strength and love, and he will be profoundly missed.
