Chaplain Dick....I consider him as being my spiritual father. He was a beacon of God's love wherever he was. Freely gave of himself. Truly a Saint. He  has won the race, and is home with Jesus. I really wish that I had known him longer. He was honestly one of my favorite people in the world. My condolences to his family. Thank you all for sharing him with us. He mattered to so many people.
What an amazing light Dick was. I know that I will miss him, even though I didn't get to see him much, so I can imagine how much he will be missed by Judy, the kids, grandkids, & rest of the family. I always enjoy family gatherings with you and thank you for sharing him so freely! He loved, lived & laughed wholeheartedly.
Mr. Rothlisberger was a dear teacher and coach to me when I was in Junior High 30 years ago. I was so saddened to learn of his passing. My deepest condolences to his whole family. Sounds like he really lived and loved all the way to the end.

May his memory be a blessing! I remember "Mr. R" so well, as he was my 7th grade science teacher about 30 years ago (yikes!). I didn't care for science much, but Mr. R was a wonderful person...I know he impacted many lives! Faith over Fear: See you soon!
I will miss Dick's larger-than-life positive presence at church! He always made me feel like he was genuinely happy to see me! I pray God will comfort your hearts as only He can.

My sincere condolences to Judy, the whole Rothlisberger family, and all who were blessed to know Dick. He has been a constant presence at MRJC and such a strong example of a faithful servant. I know he has helped turn countless hearts to the Lord and was a bright light for many in a dark place. He always had great hiking advice, too. He will be greatly missed in the office.
I met Dick and Judy in 1985 when my family started attending Valley View Church in Kent. Since that time both Dick and Judy have been wonderful friends. Dick has been remembered by my 2 daughters as the main positive male role model in their lives. He was kind and gentle and ministered to people even when he wasn't aware of it. Every time I see a picture of him my immediate response is a big happy grin and a chuckle! As happy as I am that Dick has won his race and is now home, selfishly I'm sad that he's gone. I'm sad for my friend Judy, that she lost her love and best friend, only for awhile though. Our own races will be complete one day and there will be an awesome celebration in heaven! Until that day may Dick's memory be a blessing to family and friends and may we find comfort knowing he's in the presence of our dear Lord and Savior. God's grace to all, with love, Laura Austin

Some of our greatest memories as a family occurred while camping. Dad never wanted our family to have to be around any other families while out in nature, which was somewhat easy when backpacking while we were growing up. However, when the grandkids were little, backpacking wasn't realistic. Instead, we had a tradition of boat-in camping at Kachess Lake at an awesome spot next to a beautiful waterfall. So many great memories at that picturesque site!

I send my love and prayers, for God's comfort and peace, to Judy and the family. I met Dick through his sister-in-law Renee many years ago at Judy and Renee's Moms house on Queen Anne Hill. Dick always made people feel so welcomed and he was so easy to talk to and he always seemed happy. His faith was so strong and he never backed down when it came to sharing Jesus. We know he had a great reunion when he arrived Home in Heaven and I hope the family can hold on to this as they mourn the loss of a special man. We will all see Dick again, when God calls us. Love to Judy, Marty, Travis and all the kids, Barb.
I have so many fun and fond memories of Dick over many years. Particularly at the large family functions that wife Judy's mom would put on at the holidays or for any reason to get us all together.
Dick was always a hoot with his sense of humor and his big boisterous laughter. He was always so accepting of all family members and friends and always made you feel special and part of the family. Though the large family gatherings had stopped we were fortunate enough to have a large multi family reunion a couple of summers ago as well as smaller lunches with Dick, Judy , brother in-law Butch, his wife RaeAnn and my wife Renee. I always looked forward to seeing Dick with his huge smile and catch up on old times.
Dick will truly be missed by all of us
RIP Brother ♥♥♥
I first remember when I met Dick, think I was about 16 and he was stationed at Whidbey Island and was starting to date my sister, Judy. I remember they let me tag a long to a couple of parties that his military friends had. Then I got to meet the many Rothlisberger brothers, coming here from Minnesota. Always loved Dick’s great smile and a laugh that made you laugh. He had such a heart for Jesus and his family. He will so be missed❤️❤️❤️

I have many wonderful memories of my dad, but one of my favorites is a hike that the two of us did on my birthday in 2001. It was abnormally warm for early October and I suggested on a whim that we go for a hike. So we drove up to Chinook Pass, started on the PCT going north looking for an opportunity to climb the ridge for a view of Rainier. After about a mile we reached a valley and could kind of pick out a path to the top of the ridge. As we headed up and the terrain grew steeper and we started using the plants and other handholds to help us along, we joked about how mom would not approve of what we were up to. Soon we were on top, following the ridgeline amongst fall's golden grass and vibrant red leaves. I remember him commenting how this was his favorite kind of hiking. We settled at the high point of the ridge, ate a peaceful lunch together with Rainier close enough to touch and mountains as far as the eye could see in all directions below the clear blue sky, and then cut down the hillside for a quick stop at Sheep Lake before heading back to the car. It was a perfect day, and the best birthday gift ever. Thanks dad. We love you and will miss you more than words can express.
