It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Richard "JR" Reeder. Better known to his loved ones as JR, he was born on July 26, 1937, and passed away on November 14, 2023.
Throughout his 86 years of a rich and fulfilling life, JR touched many hearts with his fun-loving, caring, and humble demeanor. To his family, he was a beloved husband, an affectionate father, a doting grandfather, and a great-grandfather. JR was a compassionate husband, father, brother who always put his family first, showing them how much he cared through his actions and his words.
He is survived by his 5 sons, Bob (Deanna) Reeder, Rick (Monica) Reeder, Dusty (Shana) Reeder, Mike (Nicki) Durham, Jeff (Amy) Durham, Robin (Jim) Martin, niece/daughter, Dawn (Randy) Cotten, nephew/son, Gerry (Hollie) Reeder, 10 grandkids, 4 great-grandchildren, whose heart aches with the loss of such a remarkable man. He is also survived by his siblings, Don Reeder, Marilyn (Larry) Hoskins, Kenny (Diana) Reeder, Pat (James) Reay, Carol (Moose) Grammer, Gerry (Loretta) Reeder, Ronnie Reeder, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his devoted, loving wife, Sherry (Loser) Reeder, his parents, Richard (Alberta) Reeder, stepmom Dorothy, sister Sharon Watson, brothers Larry (Bonnie) Reeder and Jim (Mary) Reeder. They are surely comforted by the countless warm memories they shared with their father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. To them, he will always be "Bad to the Bone".
A time to celebrate JR's tremendous life and to mourn his passing will be held on December 8, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Prospect Municipal Cemetery with a celebration of life following at the Dunlap-American Legion, Illinois. We encourage everyone who knew and loved JR to come to share their stories, their memories, their tears, and their laughter, as we remember a man who was such an important part of our lives.
