It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Richard “Rick, Ricky” Mehlfelt, our dad, husband, loving uncle, Gumpa (pa), brother, and loyal friend.

As most of you know, dad has been battling many health issues in the last couple of years, but the past few months have become more difficult for him to keep up with his daily activities. He passed very suddenly after an incredibly brief battle with Leukemia, surrounded by all of his children and with my mom by his side.

Although his time here was cut much too short, he lived life exactly the way he wanted to all the way to the end. He made such an impact on so many lives in his time here on earth. It is evident by the outpouring of love we have received from so many family and friends. We know he is reuniting with his beloved mother, Patricia her loving partner Milton and his Father, Bud as well as many of our family members and friends who have passed on before him. He passed the day after the first hurricane of the season, as the full moon set, hours before his mothers birthday. The next day was filled with no humidity and a beautiful sunny sky. Exactly how Dad loved it. Please send all the love and healing energy to our family during this difficult time.
