Long time St Johns resident, Richard “RJ” Maloney passed away Dec. 19, 2021. Born to Frank and Laura Maloney on Sept 16, 1932 in Portland, Or. He graduated from Central Catholic High school, served two years in the Army. He married Bernie Heisler on April 25,1959. They brought a house in St Johns and raised two children, Joe Maloney and Terrie Maloney Wagner. He worked and managed Tum A Lum lumber for for 26 years before starting his own successful business, RJ Maloney Construction. His hammer touched many homes and businesses in St Johns. Many a spring day, he could be found fishing the river for Spring salmon. A wicked sense of humor and a great story teller were his trademarks. He is survived by his wife Bernie, Joe, Terrie, 5 Grandchildren, 5 Great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many local friends. A rosary at 10:15am followed by mass at 11:00am will be held on Feb. 25, 2022 at Holy Cross Catholic Church followed by a Celebration of Life at the St. John’s Bachelor Club at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Holy Cross Catholic church
