Richard's obituary
Richard "Spunky" Kirby, age 65, passed away on March 13, 2025, in Boise Idaho surrounded by his family.
Richard was born August 4, 1959 in San Mateo California, son of Alvin and Sharon Kirby, and older brother of Donald Kirby.
In March, 1985, Rich was hired at Advanced Precision Machining, Inc. It was here were Rich met his boss, mentor and friend Nick Brackus, and many life long friends. Rich quickly became the go-to for fast turn parts and parts with detail and complexity. He also worked in inspection, often interfacing with government inspectors. With the arrival of the first Mori Seiki and Arura CAM, Rich's career really took off. Interesting, Arura CAM became Gibbs CAM and Rich became a lifelong Gibbs CAM user. Rich always thrived on the challenge of taking on any part given to him to machine and enjoyed the nature of the work.
Prior to moving to Idaho Rich worked at InterOcean. While at Inter Ocean, Rich was able to spend nine months in Africa and that was a memorable part of his life. Concluding his time at Inter Ocean, Rich
married Eva Virgian, moved to Idaho and took a year off prior to working for Foldsi. After many years of hard work and dedication, Rich retired in August, 2023.
Outside of work Rich lived a life filled with love and family, devoted spouse to his wife of 16 years, Sally Jones. Together they built a blended family that brought him great joy. Rich was the older brother of Don Kirby and a proud father of his 2 children: Crystal Bringino and Michael Kirby as well as his 3 stepchildren: Traci Rhoads, Sean Dayton and Brenden Jones. His love extended to his 5-grandchildren: Anthony Avery, Austin Rhoads, XXXX, Emma Rhoads, and Gigi Bringino - as well as his 4-great-grandchilren: Atlas Dayton, Parker Avery, Dawson Avery and River Jones.
Richard was proceeded in death by his parents: Alvin and Sharon Kirby as well as his beloved dog Rex.
A graveside services to honor Rich's life will be held on March 28, 2025, at Emmett Cemetery, in Emmett Idaho. The service will be begin at 3PM at 1205 North Washington Ave.
Richard's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
