Richard's obituary
Richard Kasten, 36, of Oceanside passed away peacefully and in the presence of family at his home on December 22, 2022. His friends and loved ones are deeply saddened by his loss.
Richard was born on January 16, 1986 to Steve and Dora Kasten in Torrance, California. After graduating from Mission Viejo High school in 2004, Richard attended California State University Fresno with a focus in mechanical engineering. After his time at Fresno State, Richard was employed at Pacific Packaging and then at Magnaflow in Oceanside. He loved everything automotive and enjoyed working on cars, trucks, and boats with his friends and father, Steve. He was an incredibly bright and kind individual who always put others first. Richard met his wife Michelle through mutual friends when they played together in the Fresno State Marching Band. Together they enjoyed camping, road trips, and going on walks and hikes with their dogs.
Anyone who knew Richard, knew that he was light-hearted and could make an entire crowd laugh. He had an immense passion for his work and could always be counted on to lend a hand to coworkers or friends in need. His family and friends will miss him more than words can say.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers and cards, please consider donating to pancreatic cancer research via www.pancan.org. His memorial service will be held on January 16th at 1:00pm at Eternal Hills Mortuary in Oceanside. Please also join us for a celebration of his life immediately following the service (2:30pm) at Ciao's Italian Restaurant in Vista, CA.
