Richard Karpen, born on July 20, 1930, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, at the age of 94. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose life was marked by dedication to his family and his work.

Richard was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Marty, his parents, Janie and Kevin, and his brothers, Ray and Ross. He leaves behind a loving family, including his sons David (and wife Brooke), Matthew, and Kevin (and wife Deb). Richard was a proud grandfather to 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, and he was also adored by many nieces and nephews.

Throughout his life, Richard was known for his hard work and entrepreneurial spirit. He spent many years in the concrete industry, where his work ethic and skill were widely respected. Alongside his wife Marty, Richard owned and operated a resort on Mille Lacs Lake for 15 years, a venture that brought joy to many and created lasting memories for their family and guests. They retired from the resort business in 2000, leaving behind a legacy of hospitality and community.

Richard's presence was a force to be reckoned with, and his love and dedication will continue to live on through his family. His life will be celebrated with a visitation on December 23, 2024, at the family home in St. Cloud from 1 to 4 p.m. A family dinner and the spreading of his ashes will follow at Appeldoorn's on Mille Lacs Lake on December 24, 2024, at 4 p.m.

Richard Karpen will be deeply missed, but his spirit and legacy will endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
