Richard's obituary

Richard King,  age 96 years old, of Indianapolis, peacefully passed away in the arms of his family on June 7, 2024. Born on October 30, 1927, to the late Irvin and Ellen King.  He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Stuckey King,  his wife Jane Bixler King, and his children: Gail, Rick, Tom, Jeff, his sister Ruth Curry and his brother Ronald King. 

A graduate of Arsenal Technical HS, he enlisted in the US Army  as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division, and served in Occupied Japan from 1946 to 1947.  He worked for Borden’s Dairy Home Delivery for 15 years, and retired as a Sears salesman after 19 years of service.  He was also a member of the St.  Pius  X Knights of Columbus Council. 

He is survived by his children:  Rodnick (Suzanne), Pamela Kirkham (Jay), Robert Michael King, Phillip (Cathy), Linda Nolting (Dave); Eight Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great -Grandchildren;  Sister Rosemary Thurston, and Brother Russell (Kathy).  He is also survived by step-children Mary Ginder (Don), Teresa Axthelm(Adam) and Peter Bixler (Nancy). In accordance with his wishes, he is donating his body to I.U. Medical Center for Research.  Visitation will be at Nativity Catholic Church 7225 Southeastern Ave., June 11, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., with Mass to follow at 11:00.

In honour of Richard's life, we learn to appreciate each day and sustain the values he instilled in us. May his soul rest in peace.
