Richard's obituary
Richard A. Hogberg, 81, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home , March 10th, 2025
He was born in Holden, MA to Alfred and Margaret (Cook) Hogberg Nov. 6, 1943. He leaves a sister Janet Olson still in Holden. Also, three nieces Sharon Dunne, Sue Hudson, and Sandi Calcia.
He graduated from Wachusett Regional High School and Worcester Junior College. He Served 6 years in the air national guard reserve. His work life began at Norton Company, following in the footsteps of his father and many other family members. After getting his associates in engineering, he took a job at Sprague Company, in sales, and moved the family to Liverpool, New York. He then transferred to Cherry Semiconductor and moved to North Kingstown, RI. He travelled the world with his job, seeing many places and cultures.
In his retirement, he was a quiet, solitary man who walked gently through the world, tending his gardens, singing his songs, listening and sharing with those he met along the way.
He will be remembered fondly for His wit, charm, and willingness to listen and help others.
He leaves behind his three children Andrea Groth (Scott), Mendon, MA; Kevin Hogberg ( Tammi), Loveland, Ohio and Kristin Solomon (Phil), Narragansett, RI.
Four grandchildren Braden, Dylan, Cassidy and Baxter; and his beloved cat El Gato.
He also leaves behind the “love of his life” for 40 years, Dorothy Picard; her two daughters, Claudia Picard (Dave Shaner) and Jenny Scott (Billy McKenna), Grandchildren Katarina and Kyle, who he was blessed to spend many happy holidays and family gatherings with throughout the years.
He will be missed perhaps more than he could’ve ever known.
A celebration of life will be held August 10th, 2025.
