I have never had a truer and kinder friend than Richard. Richard and Bette Jo became our friends after we visited them as part of the Care Ministry. Richard was always a joy to be with. He loved Bette Jo and their family. No matter what the occasion, vacations or funerals, Richard had a smile and his cheering laughter. He was a handy fellow and would break his back to help you with any project. He a Bette Jo were our preceptors in Financial Peace University and were such a help to us. There aren’t many people we would trust our lives too, but Richard and Bette Jo are those people. I could tell fun stories of vacations we enjoyed with them. I will just say, no matter where we were Richard was always searching for the perfect eclair, :) and was fun in every situation. But on a serious note, when Lori’s mom died during the middle of the pandemic, Richard and Bette Jo were there at the funeral when other were afraid to attend, and Richard with stage four cancer. That is the kind of guy he was and is. No truer friend, and we will look forward to seeing him again in heaven as we know he loved Jesus and put his faith in Him!
Saturday, 6-25-21 Bette Jo, we are so sorry we cannot be with you today for the celebration of 3 monumental events in Richard's life: 1. his everlasting life in eternity with his Creator God the Father, his Savior Jesus Christ and his constant source of wisdom and strength during his life, the Holy Spirit, 2. his birthday-what a glorious birthday party I am sure he is having with all of his beloved past family and friends and his new friends in heaven, and 3. the service today for the celebration of the wonderful man he was here on earth to his family and friends, and we are sure, all mankind that he encountered on his journey here in the mortal world. He was truly a good man, a kind and loving spirit. We will miss him greatly! May the Lord's strength, comfort and blessings be with you and all of his family and friends today. Love, Tim and Teresa Tunstill
Richard and I met when I was hired on in the composing dept at The KC Star. He was working in another dept, just across the room. I was very upset that my boyfriend had just broke up with me. Richard saw me walking around with tears in my eyes and he came over to see if he could help. He was so caring and compassionate and such a good listener, 3 qualities I really value. A few wks later he asked me to go get dessert and that was just the beginning!
Bette Jo we continue in our prayers for you and remember Richard fondly for the times we got to be with you both at small group. He was funny and kind and will be missed very much until we get to meet again in heaven.
Richard was always so much fun to be around. He had a kind, compassionate spirit. We first met him and Bette Jo as our facilitators in a Dave Ramsey “Financial Peace” class many years ago at Antioch Bible Baptist Church and have been good friends ever since. We will certainly miss Richard-our prayers are for you, Bette Jo! Teresa and Tim Tunstill
