Richard's obituary
Richard Kyle Harney died unexpectedly and suddenly of a pulmonary embolism on March 31st, 2023 at the age of 47. He was born December 15, 1975 to Robert and Cynthia (Cornell) Harney. He is survived by his mother, siblings: Michael, Wendy, Amber, Ryan (Kennia), and partner Saul Frausto.
As a young boy, he was very gifted in math and wanted to be a game show host when he grew up. He loved teenage mutant ninja turtles and beat every video game he played. He graduated from Clinton Community High School and studied computer science at Devry University.
He began working at the Grand Victoria Casino first as a money runner then as a blackjack dealer. He later learned Craps, Baccarat, and Roulette. He moved with his domestic partner, Saul Frausto to Kansas City in 2013 and worked at Hollywood casino at Kansas Speedway. They moved to Southern California in 2019 and he became a floor manager at Yaamava resort and Casino.
He joined the fursuit community as “Aiden Raccoon.” He displayed confidence and enthusiasm and in his character and ran a 5K, attended several conferences, and was featured in a deck of cards.
Rick was a beloved son, brother, uncle, partner, and friend. He was unapologetically and authentically himself. He never fit into one single category, but he was a celebrity in all of his different communities. Like his father, he could to talk to anyone and he seemed to know someone everywhere he went. He attended television shows and theatre performances all over the country and was an unofficial but loved movie and food critic.
A celebration of life open house will be held June 30th, 2023 at the Lakewoood Crossing Clubhouse, 2541 Ross street, Hampshire, Illinois from 6 to 9 PM. Visitation and funeral will be held July 1st, 2023 at the First Baptist Church, 220 Illini Drive, Clinton, Illinois and his ashes will be interred at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Farmer City, Illinois.
