I was [ devastated ,floored in disbelief] when I heard the news of Richard's passing. My sincere condolences and prayers goes out to the Hamm family. I first met Richard at Ryan Jr High he was a warm ,quiet( meek) soul and kind then. I had a crush on him but he never knew it , he walk passed my house everyday and I would melt. I never forget when his father passed Richard looked lost, I wanted to reach out to him and just hug him. Fast forward Richard's and my path crossed once again when he taught math to my oldest daughter,Β  he was firm ,dedicated ,gentle and loving as a teacher and as a man. Rest now awesome man servant of God. You'll be truly and deeply missed

Β Mr Hamm was an awesome teacher I was blessed to have him as a teacher in 5th grade at GardenVillas Elementary when I tell you Β he is the kind of teacher I wish they had now in schools it was not just the money for him he actually cared about his students and it showed .Mr Hamm got excited when he was teaching thats where the yelling and the beating on the board came Frm but he broke it down to where you understood.The year he thought me I was summer school freeΒ 

Was a huge impact in my life thanks Mr Richard Hamm may you Rest In PeaceΒ

Rest In Peace Mr. Hamm. I remember him as a strong, caring, and firm man. Wasn’t my teacher but was in his class a lot at Garden Villas. What I remember most about him is that he will tell us that he wanted us to be Critical Thinkers and he thought high of us.Β

I went to Garden Villas from about 1990 to 1993 when I graduated from 5th grade. Mr. Hamms impact was more that felt. I had Mr Clemons for 4th grade, but Mr Hamm had huge impact on my life. I was switched to his class at Mr Clemons verbally abused me in front of my whole class because I failed a math test that I tried my very best on( I struggled greatly with math during 4th grade). Β He took the time to tutor me in Math and gave me the my confidence back that I had lost at that time. For that I will forever be grateful. He was tough, but compassionate. He loved children, and loved his job of teaching.Β

He was BY Far the funniest and most dedicated 5th grade teacher! I loved his lectures and his way of making sure we were all heard and cared for. Such an amazing teacher! Such a beautiful soul <3

Mr. Hamm was the BEST teacher; honest, hard, dedicated and strong. Many are called, but few are chosen. Β He truly left a mark on all of his students and I am honored to have been one. Β To God be the glory for the glory you’ll see.Β

This was my 5th grade teacher yoooooo I’m so shocked & Hurt by this πŸ₯Ί I never got to say my goodbye . Rest easy my man love you too death thank you for everything you done for me . Made me into the man I am today, you will truly be miss .

Omg, he was my 5th grade teacher. Sending my prayers to his family! I’m so glad they were able to post these class pictures because I’m in on of them! He was the best teacher I ever had!
